Our briefing to ourselves started by understanding why we are here in first place.
Well, we are 80’s kids so in the beginning of the 90’s we were all about cartoons, comics and music. The golden era of Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon and MTV is pretty much what made us want to be illustrators and animators and storytellers you know?
That’s why we decided that our visuals to be a mix of all that analog 90’s goodness with the things we love today like Adventure time and Ghibli stuff. There is a lot of room to go crazy, so let’s go crazy, let’s go make some ANALOG DIGITAL STUFF.
That’s when we gave Rafouza a call, he is the analog wizard. We said Hey dude can you join us in some project? He said “heck yeah let’s go”.
Analog processing takes place through the use of a digital video converter for an analog video signal in order to explore different textures and effects possible only with the use of old video equipment, such as video switcher, video cassette, crt monitor, etc. .
Considering that the analog video signal is nothing more than an electrical signal, it is also possible to manipulate the amplitude and voltage of this signal using a glitchbox, equipment that generates inconsistencies and imperfections in the electrical signal, the famous glitches.
After image processing, there are two capture options: record the screen of a CRT monitor with a digital camera - a method also known as rescan - or use a capture card and store the material directly on a computer. Both methods produce different effects and textures that can be used according to the direction of a given project.
Finally, the captured images are digitally edited and refined.
So we did different. Our color palette is ALL COLORS. Our font family is WHATEVER FONT WE FELL LIKE. Our official logo is WELL LOOK AT ALL THOSE OPTIONS.
And finally, after all that. The result.
